Crap! I made one of the wittiest remarks my very limited brain will allow in the last thread and of course, the timing of the new blog is gonna keep them from bowing down to my genius.

If it helps I chuckled at the kissing booth comment. Just a little.

Well said Bill. It's all part of the process of player development. Frustration is expected and warranted when a team loses 10 games in a row. However a coach just can't give young player carte blanche. Nor will they be treated the same as veterans will be treated.

I predicted early that the team, particularly the rookies and 2nd year pros, would be better as the season goes on. If that holds up and the vets can continue to do what they do, the Flyers can still make a playoff push. They're only 2.5 games out of a spot right now with almost 2/3 of the season left.

I hear you Bill, but my personal issue with the ice time situation is it's simply maddening that Patrick is stapled for someone like Weise, who is not as skilled, has worse vision and hockey sense, and is merely comparable defensively (at this point). My gripe is you're sitting Patrick for a worse player.

You also name dropped Filppula- now that's a situation I can understand. As a fan, I want to see the exciting young gun out there, but at this point in their careers Filppula and Patrick basically are pushes.

I won't harp and gripe on playing Filppula over Patrick in a tight game, but I will for Weise over Patrick.

I agree they can but they're further out than it seems.

Bill ,
as always a good read.

As for Patrick, I am not worried at all. He as a lot of tools in the box, he is coming off a surgery that took Ghost and G a year to fully recover from, and ... he's only 19.

Without looking at the standings I believe most metro teams have 2-3 games in hand so it's a bit of a mirage.

That doesn't mean they can't make a push, just pointing it out. Especially with all these Eastern games from now on. If they win most of those in regulation, hey- suddenly it's at least interesting.

Personally, I think they'll be picking in the top 10. But I'd love to be wrong.

Not true. Flyers have played 29 games. The only team in the Metro that has played less games than the Flyers is Carolina with 28.

The three point game makes it tougher to play catch up in the standings plus there are a few teams they would have to jump past. If they can get to 94-96 points, that likely will get them in. They need to go roughly 33-26 the rest of the way. That's doable.

Ty, guess they made up the games recently. I was just going off of what I heard the last telecast, which was a few games ago. Was too lazy to google it on my phone. Too many clicks and tabs.

So the Sens gm has officially asked all of his players with NTC's to submit their lists of teams. Obviously he's not going to trade all of them but still weird.

Interesting. Looking towards the future, what situation would you rather be in, the FLyers or Ottawa's?

I think the way they calculate baseball standings with Games Behind is actually better than they do it in hockey and have been keeping an eye on the standings that way for some time.

I love me some Erik Karlsson but I'd have to go with the Flyers. Ottawa's GM and ownership aren't that great.

Hakstol is boob for sitting Konecny and Patrick in crunch time, kinda like what genius Mike Babcock did last night to Nylander (8:39) and Marner (11:59) in Pittsburgh.
